P. 8
1st Pastoral Letter of the Bishop of Acqui
benefactor and father; for the Canons of the Cathedral whom he
was fortunate to be able to call brothers; for all the clergy whose
benevolence he always enjoyed, although he was unworthy of it;
for so many beloved persons whose memory is carved in his
heart. You will always fulfill this duty of charity, I am sure, and
our reciprocal prayer will be a means of salvation for all.
Oremus ad invicem, ut salvemur.
Now I conclude with the prayer that must always be on the
lips of the good shepherd ready to sacrifice himself for his
beloved sheep: O Lord, help me to care for, in your name, the
children you have entrusted to me; grant that, when you ask me
to render an account of their souls, I may be able to answer
joyfully: behold I have taken care of all of them; not one of them
has been lost.
With confidence that our prayers, strengthened by the
powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin and our Holy
Patrons, will be heard by the Divine Goodness, and that he will
grant us every grace we desire, I impart to you, Venerable
Brothers and Beloved Children, the Pastoral Blessing. Pax, et
benedictio Dei Omnipotentis patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti
descendat super vos, et maneat semper. Amen.
