36 The moral decadence of nations results in great part
21
from the decadent position of woman in society. Once
the sense of her ancient dignity is born, we shall have
modest girls, faithful spouses, mothers who are educators. And
from these we can expect a generation of studious and disciplined
young people, temperate and home-loving couples, and
exemplary heads of families. (Letters 5)
22
Man can rise to higher levels like the fluids, because
he can do as much as he wills, and he can will as
much as he knows. (Letters 9)
23
First of all, if we want to have the power and strength
needed to achieve our goal, we must draw our strength
from above. (Letters 9)
24
Without faith there can be no charity; without charity
there can be nothing, absolutely nothing. Therefore,
“renovamini spiritu” let us renew ourselves each day,
each hour. (Letters 9)
25
It is a question of fighting to the finish against that
spirit of compromise which tries to infiltrate
everywhere and is the fatal solvent of the best projects
and the greatest resolutions. We must will always and at all costs.
(Letters 9)
26
The struggle is between the good self and the bad self; the
self that in one sublime moment rises against the self of
all times, the self of the past, of the old regime. It is the
struggle of the self which resolves once for all, but which repeats that
resolve at every moment in that strong and effective act of willing.
